You might have heard about Kaizen method. If not, let me tell You all You need to know about it.

Kaizen is Japanese Strategy of achieving what You want

even when you are tired, overworked,Ā  don’t have time,

when You lack motivation, kids or family takes all Your free time.

We all are busy people and this is why it is so hard to find a free moment for what is important to us.

 

Back to KaizenĀ  and why it is important:

  • Kaizen method is about continual improvement
  • Kaizen says that you should do at least smallest possible step towards Your goal
    • Here you don’t have any excuses anymore – no time is not an issue, lack of motivation will not be an obstacle too

Why are excuses not stopping You from achieving goal ?

1.) Sugar example:

Let me demonstrate example, or rather couple for better understanding.

Imagine that you want to stop adding sugar to the coffee in order to loose weight.

Coffee without sugar sounds like not drinkable idea.

Well, lets start with smallest step you can do towards your goal.

Yes, you guessed it :). Take one littlest sugar sand piece and remove it from your spoon.

Tomorrow you can remove 2 and day after 3. Sounds crazy and inefficient?

It might be, but it is a step towards your goal. Better smallest step than nothing.

Remember that you never stay same, You either go forward or backward.

2.) Reading book example:

Let’s say You have decided to work for yourself but you have no idea where to start.

There is a book about how to start own business that collects dust on bookshelf.

Well, what will be the smallest step towards your goal? Read a word (well, it might be letter if you like :)).

So do that.

How I will ever get to goal with such baby steps?

Nobody said that you cannot do moreĀ  and you probably will do more, but you need to do at least necessary minimum.

This method works much better than planning something you cannot achieve. Plan less and better do more.

Result will be that You feel good about yourself, since You are one step closer towards a dream, you constantly overachieve.

It motivates you to do more and forget excuses.

What is the little notebook for?

Write down what you have done to get closer to your dream.

Method: write every day on fresh new pageĀ  what You have done.

It should be new page and please don’t write down the date. In case you don’t do anything for a while, it is not a problem at all.

Just come back and continue once You are again backĀ  on track.

If it is a year later, even date of year ago will not be able to make You feel bad.

The most crucial is to have only one most important goal.

You can either do one good or nothingĀ  – so choose wisely what matters the most and do baby steps :).
